From #1 Kindle & New York Times bestselling author Gemma Halliday and USA Today bestselling author Kelly Rey comes a story about Sherlock Holmes, two savvy female detectives, and one chance to catch a killer and the hot Dr. Watson at the same time…

If there’s one thing Martha “Marty” Hudson can’t say no to, it’s her best friend Irene Adler. So when Irene’s little white lie about a fake detective named Sherlock Holmes turns into a real case from an actual paying client, Marty is all in. But their simple missing person case takes a deadly turn when the missing “person” ends up being a missing corpse.

Rebecca Lowery was an opera singer in life and, according to her sister, who hires the famous detective to find her, a diva with capital D. When her body goes missing after a supposedly accidental fall, Marty & Irene can think of several people who might want the diva to disappear permanently—especially if her missing body is actually hiding evidence of her murder. Is it the boyfriend with a temper and a shady record, the jealous understudy who’s now stealing the show, the creepy undertaker with possible ties to the underworld, or the estranged sister herself who now inherits everything?

Marty and Irene aim to find out, even while trying to keep cool around the hot ME, Dr. Watson, and dodging questions from the Irregulars blogger, Wiggins, about the mysterious man behind the name Sherlock Holmes. Will the ladies be able to pull this one off? Or are they in over their heads…and possibly about to take their own final bows?

Thank you so much for having me here—I’m thrilled to be able to chat with your readers today!

One of the questions I get asked a lot is what led me to become a mystery author. I have always loved reading, and especially mysteries, so this corner of the literary world is one I’ve always been drawn to. But for me it there was not a straight career line from loving to read mysteries to writing them. In fact if you take a look at the biography on my website you’ll see I’ve had quite an eclectic résumé of odd jobs in my past. I have worked as a preschool teacher, in a teddy bear factory, as an architect’s assistant, as commercial actress, a temporary tattoo artist, and even a 900-number psychic, just to name a few. At one point I thought of myself as a virtual Jill-of-all-Trades… and sadly master of none But I’ve come to realize that while my path might seemed a little zigzagging toward becoming an author, all of those jobs in the past have actually been building blocks to where I am now. Having such a broad knowledge base to pull from when creating my characters has helped me come up with some of the more eclectic and wacky characters in my books as well as some of the more outrageous situations that my characters find themselves in. That old saying that truth is stranger than fiction? Well it may be true, but pulling from the truth can create some pretty hilarious fiction.

For example in my latest Marty Hudson Mystery, SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CASE OF THE BRASH BLONDE, the main character, Marty, works at the Stanford University bookstore Café as a barista. Her coworker, Pam, is a sweet, naïve young woman who is forever falling in love with every guy that comes through the coffee bar. I have known lots of Pam’s myself, and maybe even been guilty of thinking like a Pam on occasion. And, while I never worked as a barista at Stanford, I have spent many days sitting in that very coffee bar writing away on my laptop, and I have to say I have seen quite a few of the hot guys that Pam lusts after walking through the bookshop. Marty on the other hand has her eyes set firmly on the hot and handsome medical examiner, Dr. John Watson. While I have never personally had much experience in the medical field, I have had experience tripping over my tongue around drool-worthy guys the way that Marty seems to do when ever Dr. Watson is around. I certainly feel for Marty as discussions of murder investigations are hardly considered traditionally flirtatious.

I hope you enjoy SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CASE OF THE BRASH BLONDE as much as Kelly Rey and I enjoyed writing it, and please feel free to comment or drop by my website and let me know what you thought!
