Murder in a magical, merry town just brimming with secrets.
On the snowy road to the Earth Kingdom for the holidays, Imogen and the bakers are ambushed by Horace, villainous leader of the Badlands Army. They’re forced to detour to an idyllic, rural village, bedecked in lights, garlands and winter cheer…all a little too perfect to believe. At least that’s so for Imogen, who’s seeing burned out buildings and mysterious memorials that no one else seems to notice.
Hank’s royal presence gets them invited to the big bash at the governor’s mansion. The night is filled with dancing, stolen kisses under the mistletoe and fun, until a guest is found dead in the cauldron of punch.
As bodies and mysteries pile up, all the evidence points to the vampire Francis as the culprit. The gang must come together to clear their friend’s name and save themselves from the angry villagers. Even worse, Imogen struggles with having to keep her relationship with Hank hidden, while working with him to find the real killer.
As Imogen unearths more than a few town secrets, she finally solves the riddles of her past and discovers the truth of Horace’s pursuit of her. But will all the secrets be unraveled in time to stop the killer, or will Imogen and her friends suffer a monstrous fate?
Interview with the Character
1) How did you first discover you had magic powers?
I first discovered my powers when I entered a magical baking contest (unwittingly). I had a steep learning curve! But it turns out, I’ve been pouring magic into my baking since I was little, I just didn’t know it.
2) What challenges do you find balancing cooking and baking?
Not many, mostly because I don’t cook, ha! One of the perks of working and living in the Water Kingdom palace is that the kitchen staff feeds us–they’re the best! That leaves me and the other bakers free to do what we do best, and we make sure to give the cooks left over cookies and pies.
3) What do you find most exciting about it?
I love seeing lots of raw ingredients come together to make something special and delicious. I think I prefer baking over cooking, because we’re typically making a special treat that brings smiles to people’s faces.
4) Do you have any favorite items you like to bake?
I’m on a gingerbread cupcake spree at the moment. I top them with tangy cream cheese frosting and sugared cranberries. They’re pretty and tasty.
5) Is there any tease or hint you want to give about your latest adventure?
Hank, the other bakers, and I head to an idyllic magical village in the English countryside that turns out to be full of secrets and scandals. I also learn some shocking news about my past.
