Librarian Alicia McKinney has put the past behind her…

Two years ago, Alicia discovered both a terrible truth and lasting love with John McKinney in the small town of Cobble Cove, New York. Now a busy mother of twin babies and co-author of a mystery series, Alicia couldn’t be happier.

Alicia’s contentment and safety are challenged…

Walking home alone from the library, Alicia senses someone following her, and on more than one occasion, she believes she is being watched. Does she have a stalker? When the local gift shop is burglarized, the troubling event causes unrest among Alicia and the residents of the quiet town.
John and Alicia receive an offer they can’t refuse…

When John’s sister offers to babysit while she and John take a much-needed vacation in New York City, Alicia is reluctant to leave her children because of the disturbances in Cobble Cove. John assures her the town is safe in the hands of Sheriff-elect Ramsay. Although Alicia’s experience with and dislike of the former Long Island detective don’t alleviate her concern, she and John take their trip.

Alicia faces her worst nightmare…

The McKinneys’ vacation is cut short when they learn their babies have been kidnapped and John’s sister shot. Alicia and John’s situation puts them between a rock and a hard place when the main suspect is found dead before the ransom is paid. In order to save their children, the McKinneys race against the clock to solve a mystery more puzzling than those found in their own books. Can they do it before time runs out?

Interview With The Author

What initially got you interested in writing?

I’ve always loved books and admired authors. I’ve been writing stories since I was very young and also have journalism experience from working on my college newspaper. I wrote articles for pet magazines after college (and still do). I started writing novels in my twenties and recently found handwritten notebooks and manuscripts that I might want to put on computer one day. I self-published my first book, Cloudy Rainbow, after my cat passed away. The story involves loss but is also hopeful. My second novel, A Stone’s Throw, was my first traditionally published book by Limitless Publishing, a small publisher. The sequel, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, was published October 12, and I hope to continue the Cobble Cove mystery series.

What genres do you write in?

The Cobble Cove books are cozy mysteries. Cloudy Rainbow was a paranormal romance. I’ve also written light sci fi and fantasy. Most of my books involve mystery and suspense with some romance.

What drew you to writing these specific genres?

They are the types of books I enjoy reading. I like a good romance but one that isn’t sexually explicit. I also love books with twists where I can’t guess who-dun-it.

I like plots that make me think and characters who make me feel.

How did you break into the field?

I’ve been a librarian for 25 years and involved in journalism even longer. I found my first publisher through Pit2Pub, a twitter event, and I also signed with Solstice publishing from the same event the following year.

What do you want readers to take away from reading your works?

The same things I take away from my own reading – a plot that keeps them guessing and characters who they can relate to.

What do you find most rewarding about writing?

The good reviews and positive comments and feedback from those who read my books.

What do you find most challenging about writing?

What advice would you give to people wanting to enter the field? Write because you love it and not for the money. Chances are you won’t make much right away. It’s more important to build an audience and keep writing. Find your voice. Find your fans. Never give up and keep believing in yourself.

What type of books do you enjoy reading?

Romantic suspense, mysteries, and a variety of other genres.

Is there anything else you think people would find interesting about you?

I love cats and am a member of a wonderful organization known as the Cat Writer’s Association. I always try to feature pets, cats as well as an occasional dog, in my books. I’ve also recently started a blog where my cat character, Sneaky from the Cobble Cove mysteries, interviews other cat characters from cozies and other cat books.
